For the longest time I had no idea I even had scoliosis. Ever since coming here, I definitely feel that the changes Pilates and Gyro have made to my posture and gait have had a lasting impact. At Essential it’s not just about completing the exercise, it’s about doing it right. I would suggest coming for a one-on-one session first before launching into any future group classes, as the attention to detail is on another level. I would recommend Pilates to my family and friends, and there is no better place to learn the basics and the advanced than at Essential.\n\nLisa Wong\n\nI injured my lower back in Oct last year and as part of my recovery journey, I started looking for 1:1 pilates classes as a supplement to my physiotherapy sessions. I was recommended to give Essential Movement a try. I started training with Chloe and I found her to be very knowledgeable, attentive and patient. She takes the time to correct my posture and she always make sure that my every micro movement is done correctly. She also maintains her focus during the session and so I feel that every minute with her counts. The studio may not be the fanciest but all the instructors are well trained and certified. Happy with the progress I made with her.\n\nVictoria Yap\n\nLili Loy\n\nAttending various Pilates classes in London has only highlighted the exceptional standard of instruction at Essential Movement. Ms. Ong stands out as the most articulate, observant, and effective Pilates instructor I’ve encountered. She has an incredible ability to identify precisely the adjustments needed for you to perform movements optimally, ensuring you get the most out of each Pilates session. Even in a group setting, her guidance feels personalised and attuned to individual needs. I highly recommend Essential Movement for anyone looking to begin Pilates the “right” way. It’s not just an exercise class—it’s a transformative approach that enhances every aspect of your daily movement.\n\nRachel\n\nThe best Studio in KL. The preparation of the teachers and mentors is nothing comparable to the average market. Highly recommended.\n\nAngela Vaticano\n\nI was introduced to Pilates with Hooi Koon in 2017 by my sister-in-law. She’s one of the founders of Essential Movement and she’s personally there conducting classes daily. It’s amazing that I’m still going twice a week, once for a Pilates group class and the other for gyro. That in itself says so much about the value and experience I’m getting from Essential Movement because I have never stayed with any gym or workout program for more than a couple of years and even then, irregularly. But with Hooi Koon or Ms Ong as she is known to a lot of her students, I not only enjoy my workout but also feel the change in my body. Exercising to me is a chore but when I see and feel the physical improvement that Pilates has done for me, I know I gotta keep going to stay strong and mobile. I used to religiously go for a massage once a week just to get the relief from the tension in my body but now, massage is an occasional luxury. I know some reviewers mentioned that they can do it for less elsewhere, but let me just say that not all Pilates studios are equal. It’s such a focused and deliberate form of exercise that you can easily get it wrong with a lesser instructor. Hooi Koon is a teacher of teachers. Many of the Pilates instructors in KL were her students. She’s attentive, articulate and personable. So even if you’ve had a hard workout, you always enjoy the complete mind and body experience. I started Pilates alone 7 years ago. Since then, I have recruited my entire family and some friends. So why am I writing a review after all these years? Well, recently, I managed to convince my very stubborn husband to go for a class. He’s put up with years of pain and discomfort and only finally agreed after trying everything else. He’s now reluctantly admitted that Pilates with Hooi Koon has helped him. Coming from him, that’s an A\\*. If you haven’t tried Pilates or gyro, go to her. She’s the best and she’s committed to always staying ahead of the curve with continuous learning.\n\nMei Yam\n\nOur Team\n\nInstructor\n\nInstructor\n\nInstructor\n\nInstructor","original_url":"https://essentialmove.com.my/","word_count":915,"key_claims":["Movement and wellness since 2003","Strength, balance, mindful movement","Body and mind transformation"],"content_summary":"Essential Movement has provided wellness and fitness programs since 2003.","expertise_signals":["Strength training","Balance and mobility","Mindful movement"]}
